All out war between Luka Modric and Real Madrid over transfer rumours

The Croatian's silence on the matter has upset Florentino Perez, who has already stated that he won't let Modric leave for anything less than his buyout clause

It appears as if everything is doom and gloom at Real Madrid this summer. The biggest rumour in the transfer market at the moment is about another huge name set to follow Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane out of the club. Luka Modric, the Golden Ball winner at the World Cup, is the only player yet to return to training after the World Cup.

According to 'El Mundo', Real Madrid are extremely angry with both the player and his agents, Vlado Lemic and Predrag Mijatovic. They believe the silence from all three over the rumours is intentional as they look for one last big contract.

Inter, who are willing to pay whatever it takes to land Modric, want to sign the player for €15m on a loan and then €20m next summer to make it permanent. However, according to the Spanish paper, Modric's salary would be €10m per season and the 'deal' formed by Inter's Chinese owners would be illegal in the eyes of Financial Fair Play.

The Asian owners, according to 'El Mundo', would inject funds into the club via a sponsorship from one of their own companies. This is against UEFA's rules and Madrid are considering reporting the Italian club if they don't back down.

Modric, who has a deal with Real Madrid until 2020, will return to training on Wednesday. It's there he will have a meeting with Florentino Perez to discuss his future, although the president won't sell for less than the €750m stated in his buyout clause.

However this golden offer from Inter, with a contract until 2024 and with the possibility to later play in the Chinese Super League, remains genuinely tempting for the World Cup runner up.
