The reigning Premier League champions have extended the midfielder's deal and this rules out a potential move to LaLiga next summer

The reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City, continue to work hard in keeping their squad together. After recently agreeing to extend Sergio Aguero's contract at the club, City have announced that Raheem Sterling has signed a new 5-year deal. The winger, who is also comfortable playing in midfield, is a key member of Pep Guardiola's squad.

Txiki Begiristain was the one who pushed for Sterling to be handed a new deal as he only had two years remaining on his existing one. The club believe he's worth at least €90m.

Manchester City were also forced to move quickly after learning of interest from Real Madrid. However Sterling wasn't interested in moving abroad and only wanted to be paid what he feels he's worth. Sterling believes he can still improve under the guidance of Guardiola.

"I'm delighted to sign. My development here has been incredible," said Sterling. "I felt from the minute I got here it was the right choice for me. It's paid off and I'm really grateful."
