Will Grigg scored the only goal of the game on Monday

City played over half the game with 10 men at the DW Stadium

Manchester City's hopes of winning four trophies this season were ended by third division Wigan Athletic on Monday.

Will Grigg scored the only goal of the game as Wigan dumped the Premier League leaders out of the FA Cup at the DW Stadium.

City lost to Wigan -- then in the Premier League -- in the 2013 final and were stunned by them once again here after gaving Fabian Delph sent off in the first half.

Wigan had few chances but a mistake by Kyle Walker let Grigg in late on and the Northern Ireland striker finished brilliantly passed Claudio Bravo.

Despite intense pressure, City couldn't respond and they saw their hopes of ending the season with four trophies come to an end.

"Congratulations to Wigan for their victory," coach Pep Guardiola said. "The way we played it didn't influence us too much. We conceded one shot on target in 90 minutes and we lost.

"They made some mistakes in general. We knew it would be complicated. We did it quite well, especially in the second half. One mistake and we conceded and we go out."

City still lead the Premier League and hald the League Cup final to come against Arsenal. Meanwhile, they're set to reach the last eight of the Champions League after beating Basel 4-0 last week in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.
