Chelsea FC confirm the news which was leaked yesterday as they sack their Italian coach and hope to announce Sarri as his replacement soon

This Friday, Chelsea FC released an official statement where they confirmed the sacking of head coach Antonio Conte. The news didn't come as a shock to anyone and it was only because of differences between the two parties that an official announcement was delayed until today.

The London side said they wish Conte "every success in his future career" as well as an extremely brief summary of his time at Chelsea. In fact, there were only two sentences dedicated to what the Italian coach achieved at Chelsea. "During Antonio’s time at the club, we won our sixth league title and eighth FA Cup. In the title winning season, the club set a then-record 30 wins in a 38-game Premier League season, as well as a club-record 13 consecutive league victories."

This sees the uncomfortable situation at Chelsea reach its conclusion, one month after their last official match. With Conte gone, this leaves the door open for Maurizio Sarri to take over as their new head coach.
