He said that without a doubt he would prefer to win the Champions League

Mo Salah's legend keeps growing. The Egyptian forward scored his 30th goal of the Premier League season against Bournemouth, becoming the third footballer ever to get to 40 goals in the same campaign across all competitions, for Liverpool.

Roger Hunt did it in 1962 and Ian Rush in 84 and 87, although neither managed to do it as quickly as Salah, who has 40 goals in 45 games.

Salah is ahead of anyone else in the European Golden Shoe award, but Salah told The Guardian that winning that is not his main objective.

"If I had to choose between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, of course it would be the Champions League, without a doubt," said Salah. "To win the Champions League is enormous for everyone, the rest is not important."

Liverpool are in the semi-finals of that competition, against Roma, his former side, whom Liverpool paid 42.5m euros for him.

"It means a lot to us to be in the semis. I try to score in each game to help the team and pick up points. That's the most important thing for us, that we play as a team and as 11 players, so my objective is to help the team. It's a great feeling although in the end I feel happy to score and help in this way."
