Wenger has left the Chilean out of the Arsenal squad for Sunday's game

United look set to beat rivals City to the signing of the former Barça man

There could be a resolution to Alexis Sanchez's future very soon. The Chilean forward has been left out of Arsenal's squad for their game against Bournemouth on Sunday, a decision which the English press have interpreted as a sign of an imminent transfer.

The soap opera, however, has had an unexpected twist from the summer, when Manchester City had an agreement with the player but the deal fell through at the last minute when Arsenal refused to sell for 60 million euros.

According to The Guardian, the former Barcelona man is set for Old Trafford, where he will join up with Jose Mourinho's Manchester United instead of Pep Guardiola's City.

The report says that City have had doubts about spending so much money on the operation, considering the player is out of contract in June. In the meantime, United have managed to swoop in and convince Alexis of a move to City's rivals.

In United's favour is also Arsenal's interest Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who Wenger previously tried to bring to the Emriates before he moved to the north of England in 2016.

United would offer Mkhitaryan and 25 million euros. And they would convince Alexis by offering him a salary worth 12 million euros net annually and a succulent signing bonus, as well as a five-year deal.
