Despite the uncomfortable feeling amongst members of the first team squad - notably Pogba - with the Portuguese coach, United offer their support to Mourinho

After an unsettling few days in Manchester, it appears the situation has cooled at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho came under fire following his side's 3-2 loss against Brighton but United don't feel sacking the coach would be the best course of action at the moment.

According to the BBC, the directors of the Red Devils have full confidence in the Portuguese coach and are backing him to turn things around. More now that there are question marks about the team's performance and the rumours linking Zinedine Zidane with the Old Trafford hot seat.

The club believes that Mourinho can steer the ship in the right direction. They know they let the manager down after failing to bring in his transfer targets.

Mourinho had asked for reinforcements, particularly players who could improve his first eleven, but none of the deals came off. Thanks to this a lot of big name players, as well as the defence (one of the areas Mourinho was desperate to strengthen), aren't comfortable working under the talkative coach.

The strained relationship between Ed Woodward and Mourinho only makes the situation worse. Despite this, Mourinho knows that he has the backing of the current board and as such has time on his side to turn things around.
