Manchester City lose Kevin De Bruyne for a month to hamstring injury

The Belgian creative force is likely to miss the Champions League clash at the Camp Nou in October

Manchester City have been dealt a harsh injury blow with Kevin De Bruyne ruled out for the next four weeks.

The Belgian attacking midfielder is a key part of Pep Guardiola’s attacking set-up at the Etihad and they will be hampered in their dual pursuit of the Premier League and Champions League by this news.

City face Barcelona in the Catalan capital on October 19 and if his recovery from hamstring problem goes as scheduled, he will likely not be fit for the clash. Instead he will be hoping he can play against Barcelona on November 1 in Manchester, when the teams meet again in the group stage.

De Bruyne sustained the injury during City’s 3-1 victory at Swansea on Saturday, in which he played well, going off in the 81st minute of the game.
