The German coach was reluctant to compare the two

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp responded to claims Mohamed Salah is on route to be mentioned in the same breath as Lionel Messi after scoring four of his team's five goals in Saturday's win against Watford.

Salah is the top scorer in Europe's top five leagues, having scored even more than the Argentina star, although Klopp says his players isn't looking for these type of comparisons: "I don't think Mo wants to be compared with Lionel Messi. Messi has been doing what he's been doing for what feels like 20 years or so. The last player I know who had the same influence on a team performance was Diego Maradona."

However, for the German coach the Egypt star is in great form: "But Mo is in a fantastic way, that's for sure. As it always is in life, if you have to have the skills you have to show that constantly and consistently, and he is very good."

The Reds are third in the Premier League table with 63 points, in large thanks to their star goalscorer: 28 goals in the Premier League and 36 in total during the season, a record for a new signing at Anfield.
