Liverpool were made to work for the three points at Bramall Lane and it took an error from home goalkeeper Dean Henderson for the breakthrough to come.

Wijnaldum's effort looked comfortable for Henderson but the stopper spilled the ball into his own net to hand Jurgen Klopp's side the win.

Mo Salah missed a great chance to add to Liverpool's lead, while Sadio Mane had earlier hit the post for the Premier League leaders in Yorkshire.

The win moves Liverpool eight points clear of Manchester City, who travel to Everton later on Saturday.
