City will pay around 50 million euros for the Breazilian goalkeeper

Claudio Bravo has had a tough season at City after signing from Barça

Manchester City will sign Benfica's Ederson and in doing so could break the record for a fee paid for a goalkeeper, which is currently held by Juventus and Gianluigi Buffon.

Pep Guardiola, who last summer signed Claudio Bravo and let Joe Hart leave, has once again been forced to turn to the market in search for a new goalkeeper.

Ederson, who joined Benfica when he was 15 from Sao Paulo, will turn 24 in August. After playing on loan with Rio Ave, he made hius debut for Benfica in January of 2016 and has done brilliantly ever since.

Ederson has emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe

Linked with Barcelona at one point, City have followed the Brazilian's growth in Portugal and after the problems they've suffered in goal this year have decided to make a move for him.

Buffon cost Juve around 50 million euros over a decade ago and City are set to pay around the same price for Ederson, which is more than Bayern Munich paid for Manuel Neuer.

He will become City's second signing of the summer. They have already confirmed the arrival of midfielder Bernardo Silva from Monaco.
