City have been accused of breaking financial rules by the Premier League

Pep Guardiola has taken a clear stance on the scandal surrounding Manchester City in recent days. The Catalan coach is categorical, he believes his club's explanations to charges against them for breaches of financial and fair play and says: "Now more than ever I want to stay here."

"I'm not moving from this seat, I want to stay," the former Barcelona boss said. "More than ever, I'm sure. They (the club) didn't lie to me. Look what happened with UEFA (charges), we didn't do anything wrong, why shouldn't I trust my people?"

He added: "Be careful in the future because many clubs can make suggestions and a lot of clubs can be accused, like we are accused, without being innocent.

“When they push to get rid of us, it is obvious they believe we didn't behave properly. We can accept that but let us defend (ourselves).”

Guardiola insisted: "I am fully convinced that we will be innocent. Since Abu Dhabi took over the club, it has been like that since day one.

"You have to understand that between 19 teams of the Premier League accusing us without the least opportunity to defend, and the words of my club, my owner, my chairman, my CEO, explaining everything during these three or four years, you know exactly on what side I am."
