Guardiola praised Mourinho's Manchester United in their lowest moment

The Catalan coach still thinks Jose's side can recover and make the top four this season

Jose Mourinho's Manchester United once again dropped points in the Premier League at the weekend. Despite taking the lead at Goodison Park, Everton grabbed a draw with a late penalty, leaving the Red Devils in sixth position, 13 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola was asked, before Manchester City's Champions League game against Celtic, about the performances of his rivals and the Catalan praised them:  "How they play lately, yes, United are a candidate for the top four. I watched several games they played at Old Trafford when they drew and they clearly deserved to win, but football is like that."

Now, the distance between Mourinho's side and the top of the table is big, but Guardiola is not ruling anything out: "Of course 13 points is a lot, and even more considering how Chelsea are playing. It will not be east, but United have the quality and the history and the players to be there. But it will not be easy.”

United's next game is on Thursday in the Europa League when they visit Zorya. A draw would be enough for them to qualify for the knockout rounds of the competition.
