The City coach would like to coach at the international tournament

He also said he regretted his exchange with Southampton's Redmond

On the day of the World Cup draw, Pep Guardiola's revealed he hopes to coach at football's biggest international tournament one day.

"Yes, I would like to coach at a World Cup," Pep said, "although there are a lot of things I would like to do and won't be able to."

Asked about the favourites, the Manchester City coach had clear preferences: "The candidates for a World Cup are always the same. Spain, Germany Brazil...

"I would like the winners to be people I have the most affection for. I would like Spain, Germany or Argentina to win it... they're the places where I have people that I appreciate. And England, too."

World Cup aside, Guardiola was speaking about City's game against West Ham but was also asked about the incident with Southampton's Nathan Redmond.

Guardiola admitted he regrets his extraordinary post-match exchange with the Southampton forward following his side's late winner on Wednesday.

"Yes," he said when asked if he regretted his actions. "I did it in Munich, with my old player [Joshua] Kimmich, I did the same in Dortmund and had regret there after the game and the same now.

"I cannot control myself. Hopefully I will improve. What I said is what I said and what Nathan said in his statement.

"I admire him as a player and say thank you for his comments, but if the FA want my statement again I am able to explain whatever they want. If they don't believe me, I don't know what we're doing here."
