Guardiola revealed Spanish police had looked for the Catalan leader

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his private plane has been searched twice in the last week by Spanish police looking for Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont.

The plane, carrying members of Guardiola's family, was greeted by members of the Guardia Civil at El Prat airport five days ago and a search was carried out.

Catalunya Radio first broke the news about the search and RAC1 explained that there has been a second search since then.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, the Manchester City coach confirmed that the reports were true and the search had been carried out.

He said: "My wife told me. I imagine the Guardia Civil have the right to stop us and inspect (the plane). The entered, they saw my family were there, they left and we don't know anything else."

According to Catalunya Radio, "it's not the first time it's happened" and "there have also been searches of private planes carrying Chinese people," in hope of finding Puigdemont coming back to Catalunya.

Puigdemont has been in Belgium since the Catalan unilateral referendum on independence, with a number of his associates arrested in the aftermath by the Spanish government.
