The former Barça coach's wage demands have seen him ruled out

Former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique will not coach Arsenal next season, according to a number of reports in England on Thursday. 

Luis Enrique was among the front runners to replace Arsene Wenger this summer, but the Daily Mirror were among the newspapers to report the deal is now off the table. 

According to the Mirror, the Gunners have ruled the Spanish coach out becuase of his elevated wage demands. With the club out of the Champions League again next season, they're not prepared to pay so much. 

Arsenal are hopeful of naming a new coach before the World Cup, with New York City FC's Patrick Vieira, Mikel Arteta (Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City), Juventus' Massimiliano Allegri, Germany's Joachim Löw, Hoffenheim's Julian Nagelsmann and Monaco's Leonardo Jardim the remaining candidates.

Former Arsenal player Lauren, though, would have gone for Luis Enrique: "I would choose him for various reasons, for his style of player, his killer instinct and his personality."
