Claudio Bravo's injury sets off alarm bells at Manchester City

The goalkeeper was taken off during his country's game against Colombia on Thursday

Claudio Bravo starred in Chile’s game against Colombia, making some stunning saves before being forced off injured.

Bravo left the pitch visibly concerned. The Chilean goalkeeper had saved his team, keeping them in the game, but in the second half he took a blow to his right knee after a clash with Arias. The Manchester City player was taken off in the 64th minute, replaced by Jonny Herrera.

The injury has set alarm bells ringing at Guardiola’s City. The Catalan coach has made Bravo his No.1 and only has Willy Caballero, 35, as an alternative. The English club are worried they could lose their goalkeeper for a number of games.

OPTIMISTIC BRAVO

However, Bravo’s words after the game invite optimism: “I took a knock which was annoying me, I wasn’t able to risk it. I have to think about the game in Santiago,” he said.

The City player added that he hopes to be available for that game against Uruguay, a key World Cup qualifier for both countries: “We must do well in the next game. I will try to be there on Tuesday.”
