The left-back was out until 3.30am on Friday night before a training session

Pep Guardiola tried to play down defender Benjamin Mendy's latest mishap but it was clear the Manchester City coach remains disappointed in the left-back's behaviour.

Mendy, whose time at City has been plagued by injuries, has featured in a string of off the field incidents since joining the club in the summer of 2017.

The latest saw him out at a nightclub until 3.30am on Friday night into Saturday morning. Mendy was not in the squad for the game against Fulham the following day but was due in for training.

“They are old enough to know what they have to do, I’m not his father," Guardiola said when asked for his thoughts on the situation.

"I would prefer him to go home earlier but I don’t control the players in that situation. I’m not frustrated, I’m a relaxed guy. It might not look like it but I sleep quite well. [And] yes -- he’s fit."

City are next in action in the Premier League on Wednesday against Cardiff. It remains to be seen if Mendy will make his return to the squad.
