Kante didn't play against Man City on Sunday

The France midfielder had been included in the squad initially

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante reportedly sat out his side's 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday because he fainted in training on Friday.

The France underwent cardiology tests after passing out in the session but was cleared to play the game, although Chelsea preferred not to take any risks.

Reports in England say Kante's team-mates were alarmed at the time and the incident took on more significance following the death of Fiornetina's Davide Astori on Sunday.

The Italian international, who played for his country under Chelsea coach Antonio Conte, passed away at the teama hotel overnight on Saturday.

Kante was included in the Blues' squad for the game against City but was finally ruled out, with a safety first approach taken and common sense applied.

Chelsea travel to Barcelona next week for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg.
