The former Barcelona midfielder's contract expired in June and he's now returned to his native Turkey

Galatasaray have officially confirmed the signing or Arda Turan for next season. The former Barcelona midfielder is approaching the end of his career and looks set to finish where his journey began.

The Turkish side have yet to confirm the length of the deal. Arda, 33, hasn't played any football in eight months so any contract is likely to be a year on year basis.

Turan's contract at Barça expired on the 30th of June after five incredibly underwhelming years on the books at the Camp Nou.

Arda was unable to play for the first six months of his deal at Barça due to the club's registration ban for illegally signing underage players.

After two seasons where he was unable to establish himself in the XI, he returned to Basaksehir. The deal was set to see Arda play for them until his contract expired with Barça. However, he ripped up that agreement back in January.

Arda was never going to be used by Barça so has spent the last few months doing nothing. He's more well known for his actions off the pitch rather than on it. Maybe a return to Galatasaray will see a change in his fortunes.
