The Spanish team, which only picked up two yellow cards, is the winner of the Fair Play Award

The Spanish national team didn't have a good World Cup, that's clear for everyone to see. However the squad, led by the now former head coach Fernando Hierro, won't leave Russia empty handed. It isn't the award they were hoping to win when they started the competition but Sergio Ramos, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and company walk away with the Fair Play award.

The Fair Play award, which will see every player and coaching staff member receive a medal, also comes with a diploma and a cheque for $50,000 which must be used for grass roots football in Spain. It's worth noting that this award can only be given to teams which advanced beyond the group stages.

Spain ended their stint at the World Cup with just two bookings to their name. The first went to Busquets in the match against Portugal and the second to Gerard Pique for his handball in the clash with Russia. This isn't the first time Spain have won this prize. They also won it in 2006 and 2010.
