FIFA's controversial World Cup 2018 Best XI
The presence of players like Neymar, Paulinho and Young has generated some criticism
FIFA have published their Best XI of the World Cup in Russia. They have picked a 4-4-2 and lined up with: Lloris, Trippier, Varane, Lovren, Young, Paulinho, Modric, Hazard, Neymar, Griezmann and Mbappé.
Players like Paulinho, Young and Neymar have caused consternation among fans on social media, who do not agree with their presence. They have highlighted the absence of players like Kante, Varane, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Pogba and Lucas Hernandez. And for many, Thibaut Courtois was the best goalkeeper, not Lloris.
At least Luka Modric and Kylian Mbappe's names are widely agreed with - and they also won the Best Player and Best Young Player awards respectively on Sunday after the final.
