La Roja were not at their best against Morocco as they drew 2-2

Spain coach Fernando Hierro was not impressed with his side's performance against Morocco as they drew 2-2 or their general performance in the group stages.

Iago Aspas' late goal, which VAR proved was onside, earned Spain a point against Morocco and saw them progress to the last 16 as group winners.

However, Hierro has not been left satisifed with what he's seen so far: a 3-3 draw with Portugal; a 1-0 win over Iran; and this draw against Morocco.

"We knew that all three of the games were going to demand a lot from us," said Hierro, who replaced Julen Lopetegui as coach on the eve of the finals, in a press conference.

"But this is not the path to follow, we can't allow the opposition to have so many chances. If we want to get to where we dream of getting, we have to adjust these details and be self-critical, knowing that there is room for improvement."

"We have quality players, but we must adjust to where physical teams do us a lot of damage."

Hierro has until Sunday to make changes and get his players ready for the next round, when they face hosts Russia in the last 16.
