The Barcelona midfielder is in the last four with Croatia

Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic scored the winning penalty as his country beat Russia on Saturday to set up a World Cup semifinal against England.

“This is incredible!” he said after the game in Sochi. “We played extra time for the second time and we were really good, we deserved to get through.”

The Barcelona player continued: “When we are all together, anything is possible.

“Next up is England, the country that started this sport. It will be a nice game and we all know that we will have to make a huge effort to [reach the final].”

Rakitic’s compatriot, Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren, praised the England side, who beat Sweden 2-0 to reach the last four on Saturday.

“The English side are great and for that reason we have to show even more than we’ve already signed,” the centre-back said.

“We know we can do better. We know that we’re facing England for a place in the final and now we want to win the trophy.”

The winners of Croatia’s game against England, which will be played on Wednesday, will face either Belgium or France in the final next weekend.
