The Tottenham striker overtook Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku by moving onto five goals in the tournament

England striker Harry Kane was named man of the match by FIFA after his performance against Panama. Following the match he took part in a press conference where he spoke about his pride at scoring a hat-trick at the World Cup.

"To take the match ball home makes me feel very proud. There aren't many players who have scored a hat-trick at the World Cup, so that's why I'm proud," said Kane.

The Tottenham striker moved onto five goals for the tournament and went ahead of Crisiano and Lukaku, who are both on four. However Kane is only thinking about England and not about personal achievements.

"We feel very proud of ourselves. We were very disciplined and worked hard for each other. It could have been a very difficult match so we should enjoy this moment. You don't always qualify for the next round of a tournament after just two matches," Kane added.

Kane also spoke about his goals against Panama, two of which came from the penalty spot. "I've practiced penalties a lot. It's about keeping the same routine when you shoot. The third goal might be one of the most fortunate. Strikers have moments when everything goes in and other times when nothing does."

When quizzed about Panama's aggressive style Kane said England had prepared for that but that Panama shouldn't be criticised because they were playing for their lives.

"The referee was on top on things and we're proud of the way we played. Up to now everything has gone well. There's still a long way to go but the most important thing is to win matches. If my goals help, great. There are a lot of incredible players and I'll try to be the top scorer, of course," concluded the Tottenham man.
