The Switzerland international wants to remain in the Premier League

Xherdan Shaqiri is close to joining Liverpool for a bargain price. The Champions League finalists are in contact with Stoke City over a deal while the winger enjoys some time off after the World Cup.

Shaqiri wants to remain in the Premier League after Stoke were relegated last year and a number of clubs have shown an interest in the Switzerland international.

Stoke admit they will have to let him go and are open to doing a deal with Liverpool which could see some young players go the other way on loan.

The release clause in Shaqiri's contract after relegation is 13 million euros but Stoke are fans of Harry Wilson, who Jurgen Klopp would be open to letting gain experience in the Championship.

Wilson, 21, has signed a five-year deal at Anfield and the club believe he has a future but the interest from 12 Championship clubs will see him leave on loan this summer.
