Lautaro Martinez's agent provides update on Barcelona target's future

Barça wanted the Inter striker in the summer but could not afford him

Carlos Alberto Yaque, the agent of Lautaro Martinez, a one-time Barcelona target, has spoken about the Inter Milan striker's future.

Argentina international Martinez was wanted by Barça earlier this year but the coronavirus pandemic meant they were unable to sign him.

In an extensive interview with Ole, Yaque has said: "Right now he's good where he is. He is growing and learning. He is a player with huge potential, there are no limits. He could become an elite player.

"The most important thing is that he got to grips with European football really quickly. He arrived, played, scored and showed the fans what they like from the off.

"He has three years on his contract, anyone that wants him has to go and talk with Inter. But he's calm there, and happy, playing and growing. I also grew with him, speaking with the presidents and directors of the biggest clubs in the world. Anyone that knows me knows the values I have. I keep them with me.

"In Milan, he's calm and happy. He plays and he's developing."

Yaque also spoke about Martinez's origins in Argentina: "No one took him on trial. He had bad experiences with Boca Juniors and San Lorenzo. They didn't consider him.

"I went to Bahia Blanca one week to see him train. I spoke with his father and everything started there. Velez and Racing wanted him, but Racing offered something extra and finally closed the deal."
