Manchester City want to kill two birds with one stone to secure the team's future. Firstly, the objective is to tie coach Pep Guardiola down to a new contract. His deal expires in 2023 and they want to link him to the club until 2025, which in turn would help convince Erling Haaland to join the club.
As revealed by The Sun, Guardiola being the manager is a big factor in Haaland's decision. The Borussia Dortmund man, who scored another hat-trick this weekend, knows the Catalan will get the best out of him.
Latest reports suggest the race for Haaland has been reduced to two teams: City and Real Madrid. However, in England, they claim a pre-agreement has already been reached with City.
Whatever happens, the Norway international's decision will arrive sooner than later with his release clause taking out any negotiating factor with Dortmund. It seems Guardiola will finally get the striker he has long wanted for his project.
