The Blues have made a strong push for the player in the last few hours

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Jules Koundé has agreed personal terms with Premier League side Chelsea. If the two clubs can agree on a fee, the player will sign a 5-year deal that will last until 2026.

Chelsea have acted fast, with news of their discussions with the player only breaking in the last few hours. Koundé was Thomas Tuchel's main transfer target for the upcoming campaign. While the Champions League holders have held an interest in the player since the start of the transfer window, it wasn't until this afternoon that they finally made their move.

Chelsea's participation in next year's Champions League is highly appealing for Koundé, and the two clubs are now in advanced discussions to finalise the terms of the deal. Koundé's current release clause stands at 80 million euros, and Sevilla will open negotiations with this figure in mind as they look to secure top dollar for one of their biggest assets.

Following the sale of exciting winger Bryan Gil to Tottenham, another of the club's biggest stars now looks to be heading to the Premier League. Koundé turned down an approach from Spurs earlier in the window, instead preferring to seal a move to a Champions League side. It looks as though Chelsea have won the race for the French international
