Unai Emery, who is leaving PSG, said his objective was tos make Neymar happy

PSG's outgoing manager Unai Emery has revealed that Lional Messi was one of the main reasons Neymar left Barcelona.

In a long interview with magazine The Tactical Room, Emery said "one of the reasons Neymar left Barça is because the play was completely centred around Messi and Neymar was obliged to work for him".

"I know when I am the principal person in the group and when I am not. At PSG, the leader is Neymar. At Manchester City, it's Pep Guardiola," said Emery, in a surprising confession that he was subserviant to the Brazilian.

"My priority was to make Neymar happy, it didn't matter how," he said.

Emery added that "Neymar arrived at PSG in order to be the leader, to live the necessary process to become number one in the world. At Man City, Pep is the leader. At PSG, Neymar needs to be the leader."

Emery admitted he had a few arguments with Neymar.

"My objective was to make Neymar happy.  That was the most important thing, to ensure he was happy. It didn't matter how. I had a lot of discussions with Neymar about this. Sometimes the talks did not work, other times they were very successful."

Emery announced last month that he is leaving the club at the end of the season, despite leading them to the Ligue 1 title.
