Dembélé finally registers first PSG assist in sixth game; still no goal yet

The former Barcelona winger has not had the greatest start to life at his new club

Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Olympique Marseille 4-0 in a match in which Kylian Mbappé's injury on the half-hour mark was the worst news for the Parisians, who are now two points behind early leaders Brest.

That setback dampened a victory that had already begun in the first half with a free-kick from Morocco's Achraf Hakimi and a goal from Randal Kolo Muani. Mbappé had hurt himself in the seventh minute in an action with Argentine defender Leonardo Balerdi in which he twisted his left ankle. He limped back onto the pitch, was briefly withdrawn around the quarter-hour mark to have a bandage applied to the area and eventually had to be substituted.

Portugal's Gonçalo Ramos, who had replaced Mbappé, completed the rout at the start and end of the second half.

Another of the match's notable events saw Ousmane Dembelé provide his first assist of the season with a half-volleyed cross that found Ramos, who headed home.

The former Barcelona forward, still a very inconsistent performer, has yet to open his goalscoring account. After five games (330 minutes) in Ligue 1 and one more in the Champions League, the Frenchman has shown off his quality, but has already left several images of clear chances missed, something that has raised some criticism in the French capital, which has already led to speculation of a possible transfer to the Premier League in the January transfer window.
