Thierry Henry has broken off negotiations with FC Girondins de Bordeaux about becoming their new manager

The fact that Thierry Henry wants to try his hand as a manager is no secret. What isn't clear is where his first port of call will be. It appeared he was set to take over at Girondins de Bordeaux but the player ultimately turned down the offer and as such ended negotiations with the Ligue 1 club.

This is what Bordeaux's president, Stephane Martin, told the French Press agency: "Yes, we've ended negotiations with Henry." The former France international was Roberto Martinez's assistant coach at Belgium. His contract ended following the World Cup.

This leaves Bordeaux in a complicated situation as they search for a replacement for Gustavo Poyet. The Uruguayan was sacked by the French club after he launched a public attack on the transfer business being conducted without his say so.

Henry, before deciding he wanted to become a manager, worked as a commentator and analyst on television.
