The Madrid coach made a number of changes for the match

It's easy to criticise with the benefit of hindsight but Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane isn't bothered about any complaints people have about the side he fielded against Sevilla.

Madrid were beaten 3-2 at the Sanchez Pizjuan after the French coach decided to leave a number of starters behind and play those who haven't played so often this season.

Defending the selection, Zidane said: "When you look at the team we put out, you see that we could easily win the game. I don't regret the line-up. It's a shame [we lost] because they're the players that play less, but I can't blame them for anything.

"We were a little better in the second half. In the first half, we lacked a little something, we were only good in possession in the first three quarters of the pitch."

Despite the game not having huge consequences on La Liga, with the title already won by Barcelona, Zidane was still disappointed to lose.

"We've got two games to go in the league," he added. "This was a good chance to get more points but it wasn't to be in the end. We're disappoitned, but tomorrow we will keep working. This defeat won't affect what remains this season."

What remains is the Champions League final in Kiev, Madrid's third in as many years.
