It was a case of pure Diego Costa for Atletico on Saturday

Simeone's side beat Getafe with Costa writing the headlines

Pure Diego Costa. It's impossible not to miss such a special character. The Hispanic-Brazilian has spent months working under 'Profe' Ortega, trying to get in shape and marking off the days until he was able to 're-debut' with Atletico Madrid. He came on as a substitute in midweek in the Copa del Rey, scoring, but made his return to La Liga on Saturday in the game against Getafe at the Wanda Metropolitano.

After being given a warm welcome home by the supporters, Costa scored his second goal since returning from Chelsea (after his effort against Lleida in the Copa), beating Damián Martínez after a brilliant assist from Vrsaljko. It was Atletico's second goal of the afternoon and came just six minutes after Costa had been booked for an elbow on opposition player Djene.

The goal was cause for euphoria. Costa wanted to celebrate in style and made his way to the stands, where he embrace supporters who are delighted to see him back in Spain. However, it was a celebration which cost him a yellow card -- his second of the game -- and saw him sent off. Costa's back alright. Wherever he is, there's usually plenty of action.

Atletico won the game 2-0, moving to within six points of leaders Barcelona, who host Levante at Camp Nou on Sunday.
