The season concludes for Villarreal with a disappointing loss against R Madrid

R Madrid secures a 2-1 win against Villarreal at the Alfredo di Stéfano on Saturday. Both RMA and Villarreal arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. RMA were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Athletic Bilbao away (1-0), the other to Granada away (4-1) whilst Villarreal were coming from consecutive wins against Seville and Real Valladolid. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the LaLiga season, RMA are in 2nd place on the table and has 84 points while Villarreal sit in 7th with 58 points after 38 matches.

The Yellow Submarine started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Yeremi Pino finding the net, on 20 minutes. The score at half time was 0-1.

RMA continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Karim Benzema in the 87th minute. However they weren't finished yet and Luka Modric made it 2-1 just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-1.

For RMA, Rodrygo, Isco, Marcelo, Mariano Diaz and Nacho, came on for Vinicius Junior, Marco Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola, Casemiro and Miguel Gutierrez. Villarreal brought on Francis Coquelin, Ruben Pena, Paco Alcacer, Daniel Raba and Moi Gomez, to replace Carlos Bacca, Etienne Capoue, Yeremi Pino, Gerard Moreno and Manu Trigueros.
