The date of the clasico at the Bernabeu is up in the air due to the World Club Cup

The Copa del Rey final will be played on 21 April, along with a full league programme

The league will start with three fixtures that are the same as last year’s opening round Barça-Betis, Sevilla-Espanyol and el Valencia-Las Palmas) on the weekend 19-20 August and will end of 20 May, after probably the tightest schedule of recent years with almost no free dates.

The clasicos will be played on weeks 17 and 36, at the Nou Camp on 6 May, with just two more games after until the end of the season. But the date for the game on week 17 at the Santiago Bernabéu is still up in the air. It should be on 20 December but Real Madrid may be playing the World Club Cup until 16 December, so Leganés-Real Madrid on 17 December will have to change.

The Copa del Rey final will be played on 21 April 2018… the same weekend the week 34 fixtures will be played, which could cause more fixture problems for the teams involved.

Controversy? Vitolo will play at the Sánchez Pizjuán against Sevilla as a visitor twice – first with Las Palmas in week 5 and then with Atlético in week 25.

Spain will play their key World Cup qualifier against Italy at the Santiago Bernabéu in September. If they need to qualify through a playoff, these games will be played on 9/10 and 13/14 November.

There are currently four midweek rounds – 20 September, 20 December, 28 February and 18 April. The latter is three days before the Copa del Rey final and sandwiched between the Champions League quarter and semi-finals.
