The bizarre injury which almost ruled Douglas out of Barcelona clash

The on loan Sporting Gijon defender almost missed the game with his parent club in strange circumstances

Sporting Gijon right-back Douglas Pereira was in danger of missing the showdown with his parent club Barcelona this weekend -- and all because of an incident on the bus on the return journey from Wednesday night's game in Vigo against Celta.

According to the journalist Gerardo Ruiz from Onda Deportiva Asturias, the Brazilian noticed a pain in his gluteus on the way back to Gijon. It turns out the problem surfaced due to his bad posture as he slept on the bus.

While there were fears the pain could get worse and he could miss out on the squad for the Barça game on Saturday, the club are hopeful that won't be the case. He was able to do some gym work on Thursday, as the player himself revealed to Sporting's official media channel.

"Good, I'm good, available. I was just doing some specific work [on the problem]," Douglas said.

He has played one of Sporting's five matches in LaLiga this season. The game against Barça will be "special" for him, but he almost missed it because of his awkward positioning on a bus journey...
