The LaLiga president says he will "assess his options" with regards to the threat of legal action by Real Madrid

Speaking of the legal action threatened by Real Madrid, LaLiga president Javier Tebas said "They have made very serious accusations [of criminal activity] and we'll have to see what happens next. After a few days reflecting on it, I'll have to assess my options. Real Madrid wanted to scare us, threaten us and coerce us to not put this deal [which was passed today] before the Assembly."

Speaking about Real Madrid specifically, he admitted that the club would be "perfectly" able to sign French forward Kylian Mbappé "or another [of a similar value]" because their financial situation would permit such a deal.

With regards to Barça's new signings who have not yet been registered with LaLiga, Tebas suggested that the only urgent one is Memphis Depay: "Aguero, given his injury, doesn't need to be registered by 31 August. It is just Memphis who needs to be registered urgently".

The project between CVC and LaLiga, which will see 2.7 billion euros injected into the Spanish league system, was passed this evening with 38 votes in favour and 4 against. Despite it being a secret ballot, Real Madrid, Atletic Club de Bilbao and Barcelona made their opposition to the deal public. The fourth club, from Segunda A, did not reveal their identity.

"Real Madrid have been hindering our deals for eight years, yet we've managed to continue growing all the same. When Barça were under Josep María Bartomeu, they voted against everything we put forward. However, they don't realise that they are not essential because the management is done by LaLiga", Tebas added.
