Simeone: Madrid's first half last week what you expect from the best team in the world

Diego Simeone says Real Madrid's performance in last week's match at the Vicente Calderon was "what you expect from the best team in the world."

Atletico and Madrid played out a 0-0 draw, with the second leg to be played at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Up for grabs is a place in the Champions League semi-finals, and Simeone says he is only focused on making sure Atleti are prepared for the match.

Here is what the Argentine had to say in Tuesday's press conference previewing the game.

On last week's match: Madrid's intensity in the first half at the Calderon was very good. They played well, direct and with pace. That's what you expect from the best team in the world, which is what they are.

On Antonie Griezmann: He has grown a lot and his goals in La Liga (20) prove that. But he is young, he still has to grow and improve more. I hope that he can continue to show that every day.

Atletico's defence: There's a lot of healthy competition in defence. In the middle we have Uruguay's two starting central defenders and one from Brazil. It's a problem for the manager.

Who will play left-back? I haven't decided between Siqueira or Gamez. It will be painful to have to leave one of them out. They will be the first to know, though.

Modric out? I'm thinking about how we can do damage. That's is what's important for us.

Madrid injuries? You're more attentive to that than us, we are focused on preparing for the match so that Atletico can go out and play well.
