Simeone-Diego Costa: A dinner which has led to speculation
The two men ate together on Monday with the striker back in Madrid for Spain's upcoming matches
Diego Costa and Diego Simeone took advantage of the latter’s presence in Madrid ahead of joining up with the Spain national team to go for dinner on Monday evening.
The Hispanic-Brazilian uploaded a photograph on his Instagram account of the meeting, which was little more than a dinner between two friends, but has sparked rumours in England.
That’s because Simeone wanted to re-sign Costa from Chelsea this summer (Atletico offered 60 million euros) and the player was also open to returning to the Vicente Calderon.
The operation didn’t go through, though, with Chelsea keen to hold on to their front man, who has started the season in fine form.
In the end Atletico signed Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla and the Frenchman has even admitted that he knew Costa was Simeone’s first choice.
