Sevilla 1-0 Atletico Madrid: N'Zonzi sends Andalusians top

Steven N’Zonzi scored the goal that sent Sevilla top of La Liga, leapfrogging leaders Atletico Madrid with a 1-0 win over Diego Simeone’s team.

Koke was sent off for two bookings in the second half as Atletico struggled to create many chances apart from an Angel Correa strike that went wide of the post and a Diego Godin header which was saved by Sergio Rico.

N’Zonzi was played through by Luciano Vietto, on loan at Sevilla from Atletico, and he ran through before finishing past Jan Oblak to net the goal which divided the teams.

Antoine Griezmann failed to find his best form—the fourth consecutive game he has not scored for club and country—while Yannick Carrasco was taken off because he wasn’t playing well either and Sevilla were dominating the game.

Sevilla have 20 points from nine games, followed by Barcelona on 19 and Atletico on 18, while Real Madrid can go top if they beat Athletic Club on Sunday night.
