The current head coach of Betis said it wasn't a good sign for the defender if he had gone from playing at Barça and Dortmund to Real Betis

Quique Setién knows that his Real Betis side aren't going through their best spell at the moment. Although he has the backing of the club, there are rumours going around that he might have lost the support from some members of the dressing room. According to 'El Desmarque', his recent outbursts haven't gone down well and the last one he's upset is Marc Bartra.

Setien, in an interview with RAC1, talked about his star defender's level ahead of Betis' trip to the Camp Nou. "We've talked about him so he keeps improving. The fact that he's here isn't good for him. It is for us, but not for him. To have been at Barcelona and Dortmund, I've told him many times: 'You must be doing something wrong to be at Betis, a team which in theory is smaller and has less potential than both of those sides.'"

However the coach understands that Bartra is young and still has room for improvement. "So there are areas where he needs to improve, controlling that stress. But you need to understand that he'll improve with that as he gets older and gains experience, as it happens to all of us."

Setien made reference to the way Pique plays if Bartra wants to improve. "'Football is so impulsive that it's difficult to control your emotions at times. He wants to win the match, he wants to be involved in everything. Sometimes I tell him: 'Look at Pique, focus on Pique. Look at how he's involved across the pitch, he never changes. He's always well placed, makes good decisions. Analyse his play because I won't be able to teach you what another footballer at this level could. It'd be good to copy him and improve or give all that you have every day."

Along those same lines, his comments haven't endeared him to Betis supporters. The coach, who is confident Barça and Dortmund are on another level to Betis, appears to have upset some of his side's fans with his comments about their standing in world football.
