Criminal Court 14 of Seville has cleared Rubén Castro, the Real Betis player currently on loan at Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng in China, of abusing his ex-partner. The judgement explained that “it was not proven” that the player had “used violence” against his partner.
The court ruled that it wasn’t proven either that Castro “tried to control aspects such as how his partner dressed, the people she saw, her calls and WhatsApp messages, where she went or her work as a go-go”.
The public prosecutor had asked for a sentence of 4 years in prison for the footballer and the victim had asked for 8 years.
