There will be some big changes to two of Spain's competitions next season

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have approved plans for changes to the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup starting from next season.

The Copa del Rey will feature 116 clubs, with the format of the competition changing. Games will no longer be played over two legs, with the exception of the semifinal. Every club will receive €800,000 for taking part, the runners-up will get €1.4m and the winners €2m.

Meanwhile, the Super Cup will also undergo changes. It will no longer be a two legged affair between the league winners and the cup winners, but will feature four teams and will be played in January, instead of in August, as has been tradition.

There were 98 members of the RFEF present for the voting on Monday. Of them, 91 voted in favour of the cup changes and 94 in favour of the new Super Cup.
