RFEF chief Rubiales says there will be no more La Liga games on Mondays

Rubiales: Me alegro porque es importante que España sea fuerte en Europa / | RFEF

"Business is important but the fans are more important," he said

José Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish Football Federation [RFEF] announced on Friday that there will be no more league games on Monday nights next season.

The RFEF have listened to supporters who complained about their teams having to play on Mondays and taken their concerns on board.

"There will be no more football on Mondays," Rubiales wrote on Twitter. "From next season, LaLiga will be played on Saturdays and Sundays. We will see what happens with Fridays, if we reach an agreement that's good for everyone. Business is important but fans more so."

One of the main reasons for the decision is the low attendances at stadiums for the Monday night game. The RFEF feel that spreading games across Saturday and Sunday has always benefitted fans.
