The striker is currently inside the offices at the Valencia based club and will replace Ekambi in the LaLiga team's squad

Former FC Barcelona striker, Paco Alcacer, is on the brink of a LaLiga return. He's close to leaving Borussia Dortmund, who recently signed Haaland, and will become Villarreal's new striker.

After a possible move to Valencia fell through when Rodrigo's transfer to Barça collapsed, Villarreal moved quickly to snap up the Spanish international. He's hoping that regular football will ensure his place in Luis Enrique's Euro 2020 squad.

The transfer will cost Villarreal around €23m and Paco will be tasked with covering the gap left by Toko Ekambi, who signed for Olympique de Lyon earlier this month. With Carlos Bacca a shadow of his former self, Alcacer will battle it out for a starting place alongside fellow Spaniard Gerard Moreno.

Alcacer is currently inside the offices at Villarreal and is expected to sign a long-term deal. An announcement should come later this afternoon.
