Javier Calleja's team suffered a home defeat to Osasuna at the Estadio de Mendizorroza on Saturday

Osasuna's 2-0 win over Alaves on Saturday, was hard fought at the Estadio de Mendizorroza. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Alaves were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Valencia. Osasuna were beaten 4-1 in the previous match against Valencia. As it stands, Alaves and Osasuna sit 20th, (0 points) and 6th, (8 points), in the table respectively, after 5 matches.

Los Rojillos started strongly in the first half, thanks to a goal from David Garcia at the 22 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Roberto Torres, 29 minutes in. The score at half time was 0-2. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

For Alaves, Facundo Pellistri, Mamadou Loum, Manu Garcia, John Guidetti and Miguel De la Fuente, came on for Ivan Martin, Tomas Pina, Toni Moya, Mamadou Sylla and Ruben Duarte. Osasuna replaced Oier, Ezequiel Avila, Javi Martinez, Inigo Perez and Jaume Grau with Jon Moncayola, Kike Garcia, Roberto Torres, Ruben Garcia and Darko Brasanac.

There were bookings for Victor Laguardia, Toni Moya, Ruben Duarte and Ximo Navarro from Alaves, and Roberto Torres, Lucas Torro and Manu Sanchez, for Osasuna.

Alaves will next travel to Espanyol, while Osasuna will face Real Betis at home.
