OFFICIAL: Joaquin Caparros is the new manager at Osasuna

The Pamplona-based club have now confirmed who their new manager is in the fight against relegation

Joaquin Caparros, 61, is the new Osasuna manager. The club have reached an agreement with the experienced coach and he will be presented during the international break.

The president of the club, Luis Sabalza, and his board of directors have chosen Caparros to take over from Enrique Martin, who was sacked on Monday. Caparros will travel to Madrid this week to sign the contract and there will be a presentation for the fans.

His assistant will be Luciano Martin Toscano, who he coached when he was in charge of Huelva in the 1990s. Javi Ramos, though, will not be kept on, according to reports in Pamplona.

Caparros was thought to be keen to return to management after being out of work since leaving Granada last year. During four decades as a coach, he’s held posts at Villarreal, Sevilla, Deportivo La Coruna, Athletic Bibao, Mallorca and Levante, among others.
