The relationship between the Málaga manager Míchel and the president and owner of the club Abdullah Al-Thani has continued to deteriorate after the owner’s words following Málaga’s 1-0 defeat to Girona.
Al-Thani wrote on Twitter “Señor Míchel González, you have made errors. You should only talk about the game, nothing else, because we have a director of football”. The controversy his words generated led Abdullah Al-Thani to delete the message soon after it was posted.
Even though Míchel did not talk about transfers much in the press conference following the defeat at the Montilivi, Al-Thani criticised his words on possible signings, an affair that has created a tense atmosphere in recent weeks
The failed bid to sign Javi García, who finally joined Betis, increased the tension and then Málaga signed Rolón, a transfer that Al-Thani took responsibility for with no input from the director of football Francesc Arnau
With zero points, zero goals in the first two games and the tense relationship between the president and manager, the future of Míchel seems bleak.
