The defender signs a five-year deal after his Anfield contract expired

Villarreal have confirmed the signing of Spanish left-back Albero Moreno after his contract expired with Premier League side Liverpool.

Moreno, 27, will be presented on Wednesday and will hope to find regular football in La Liga after featuring infrequently under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. This past season saw him play just 155 minutes in the league.

Since joining Liverpool from Sevilla in 2014, he has never been a regular. Perhaps his best season was 2015-16, when he made 40 appearances in all competitions.

It's also true that he's not had the best luck with injuries, while the form of Andrew Robertson over the last year has not helped, either.

In total, after signing for 18 million, he made a total of 90 appearances for the Red and now joins Villarreal for free.
